I've had some recent issues with my wheels, and I don't really have time to deal with it right now. My temporary solution will be to put stock 8.5" tt rear wheels on all 4 corners with some decent tires. These are my options:245/45/16: Hankook Ventus R-S2 Fuzion ZRi Sumitomo HTR Z Yokohama AVS ES 100 Additional options...
245/50-16: BFG g-Force Sport Avon Tech M550 A/S BFG g-Force Super Sport A/S Kumho Ecsta ASX Sumitomo HTR+ I excluded the 245/50 tires that are also available in the 245/45 category.
I would like to stay close to $100/tire if possible. I may go up as far as $130 if it's really worth it for a specific tire. I've heard that the Hankooks are a good tire, the Sumitomos have a soft sidewall, the yokos stick but have poor tread wear, and I don't know anything about the Fuzion.
I don't put a lot of miles on the Z, and I only drive it in dry weather typically. I'd like the ability to auto-x or drag race on these tires safely, but I'm not expecting to do so. My street driving is somewhat spirited but I'm usually not very hard on tires. Are there any options that I'm missing? Of the 4 stock sized options, which is the best for the money?
Can 245/50-16 tires be run with 8.5" wheels on all 4 corners without rubbing? My car is lowered but I can raise it if need be. Thanks for any input. I've never used any of these tires as I'm not used to buying tires for stock wheels.
